Kathleen Villiers-Tuthill is a native of Clifden and the author of five books and numerous articles on the history of West County Galway. Her interest in history began as a hobby and over the years has developed in to a full time occupation.
Her work is based principally on primary sources, from public archives and private collections. In recognition of her contribution to the heritage of the county, she has received two Heritage Award from Galway County Council. The first in 2003 and in 2006 her most recent book, Alexander Nimmo & The Western District, was granted Best Heritage Publication Award.
Married with two sons, Kathleen divides her time between Dublin and Clifden.
